I am always looking for things around the house that I can change up. I think my intense love of re-doing, redecorating and interior design was instilled in me by my Momma. I was always allowed to pick how I wanted my room to be (within reason) ... jungle themed, leopard print (I started my unhealthy obsession with animal prints early), the time I painted my room
fire-engine red - literally, that was the name - and then finally settled on a creamy vanilla with neutral accents... I know.
But seriously - if I weren't doing accounting - I would totally be doing interior design. I almost switched actually, but decided I really didn't want to switch my major - I just didn't want to take another tax test.
And seeing as I am currently in 'transition' to being a big girl - in age, not size ... that's an entirely different post - I've been paying more attention to how I want my 'nest' to be. To me, home should be a refuge. A sanctuary. A place to bring your friends. Filled with all of your favorite things. Additionally, seeing as I am in a bit of a cheapo frugal individual, I need fabulous things to happen on a fabulously low budget.
I actually have an 'ideas' folder on my computer, filled with 'ideas' of how I want my home to look. So, I decided to share part of my ideas folder... enjoy!

I love this room. Mainly, I love this chandelier ... seriously - GORG. I also love the giant window with flowy white drapes, and the mirrors on either side. I think mirrors are a great way to make a room seem more open ... and they are pretty. Which is incredibly important.

L.O.V.E. This is actually exactly what I want my guest room to look like. Heck, I might even sleep in it every now and then ... This picture was enough to kick my sweet little Ikea bed frame off the 'things i love' list. I still like it and all, but I love the pop of color this frame gives the room. Sorry Ikea-bed, it's nothing personal. And that mirror! Again! LOVE IT. Besides the furnishings, notice the paint color ... I love it. I'm thinking of re-painting my bedroom over Christmas break. Do I still call it Christmas break when I'm done with school? Forever? In like, 5 weeks?

Ok - obviously - this isn't going to happen any time soon... but that doesn't mean I can't like it. Or share it. The gray and white checkered tile makes my heart swoon. I love it. And that circular chair in the center? And that light fixture? And those high-ceilings? A girl can dream, right?

Love this. It is so simple. And serene. I've really been on an ice-blue/grayish kick lately. This is similar to the color I want to paint my bedroom ... and the flow-y curtains? Yes please. I could sleep for days in here ...

Where do I even start with this one? The bell jars? The candles in the fireplace? The ceramic greyhound? All of the above are things I love about this combination living/dining area from Young House Love. And can we just take moment of silence for the fact that they are selling this house .... ok, thanks. I was planning to do something similar to their dining room shelving over there in the corner-ish area. The wall in my dining room is HUUUUUUUUGE and it is so difficult to find things that fill up the wall while still looking effortless and pretty... this might be the answer.

Again, Young House Love. I absolutely adore a lot of what they do, and this room is no exception. I love this rug ... the yellow and green color combo is so fun and pretty. I also love the furniture in this room - it doesn't all 'match' but it goes. I'm diggin' it.

This will happen. I absolutely love stripes. I want them in my bathrooms, which are going to be re-vamped (soon hopefully) ... turns out, it costs quite a bit more to completely re-do bathrooms than I'd imagined ... I've googled - and YHL'ed - how to paint stripes and ran in to a road block ... apparently - it is very difficult to paint stripes on textured walls, and both of my bathrooms have textured walls. This might end up being something I do in the future office or maybe even when I repaint my bedroom. Stay tuned for that.
So that's pretty much it. I'm looking forward to applying some of these ideas into my own home someday soon. And I'll be sure to update you when it happens : )
Because I like you, really I do.
What do you think? Am I totally crazy, or are these rooms little gems?
Big hug!!
