the first of many christmas celebrations

Let me just say, I love Kris Boevers. She is wonderful. Talented. Thoughtful. And fabulous in general.

That being said, we had our roomie Christmas spectacular celebration the other night - complete with last minute Christmas shopping, over-eating at Ted's, gift exchange, and RHOA (real housewives of atlanta ... like you didn't know that) - it was wonderful.

Remember back in "the day" when you had to really rack your brain to think of gifts for people? Now, Amazon wish-lists and blog posts make it easy-ish to pick out gifts that people really want! Not that thoughtfully picking out gifts is totally kiboshed, but it definitely does ease the mind to know that the person you are shopping for really does want what you are gifting.

Well - Kris knocked this one out of the park, purchasing things that I'd like to spend money on but would not actually buy for myself. Namely, the cutest little dog bed you ever did see and a lovely clock. And I purchased for her a super cute and oh-so-soft Tom's shirt and a little something something that can't be revealed at this point ... get your mind out of the gutter, I just can't tell you yet.

If you don't know about Tom's - they donate a pair of shoes to a child in need every time you purchase anything from them or their retailers. So Kris, know that because you are walking around in a super-comfy shirt, a little child is getting a pair of shoes they desperately need. I know that makes your heart smile. Speaking of making hearts smile, I'll toss in this pic of Lou relaxing on his bed for good measure.

While we're on the topic of Christmas ... even though giving gifts is fun and nice ... it's important to remember the reason for the season. It is almost the Lord's birthday! Remember that when you are unwrapping gifts and spending time with your family and friends, you've already been given the greatest gift - the gift of grace and the promise of a new and everlasting life in Heaven. Have you unwrapped it yet?

For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

~ Isaiah 9:6, NLT
